Toshiba satellite Crashing problem
I have recently attempted to install fedora17 on my laptop, but every time i do anything seemingly difficult it crashes the os. one thing that specifically crashes it every time i do it is Firefox. i can open it but as soon as it starts loading homepage it just freezes the mouse doesn't move keys do nothing. the only thing i can do is hold the power button. the laptop is a Toshiba satellite C655D-S5508 with an AMD E 350 1.3ghz and 4gb ddr3 ram, 350gb 5200hz hard drive.
I have already tried re-installing it because if there is anything i know about forums that will be repeated untill the server crashes, ALREADY TRIED IT i did try making a new disc and installing that, ive tried changing the internet settings but it crashed the OS yet again.
I hope to get a solution soon because i need this laptop for school.

Re: Toshiba satalite Crashing problem
Please test your memory with Memtest86+
Is your APU undervolted? Because an E-350 is usually running at 1.6 GHz and if your HDD was spinning at 5200 "Hz" it would literally melt. Remember Hz = 1/s ;-)

Re: Toshiba satalite Crashing problem
Sorry for the inaccurate information. my official laptop information is here http://us.toshiba.com/computers/lapt...0/C655D-S5508/
The only thing different about mine is i have 4gb.
Keep in mind i had windows running flawlessly 10 minutes before installing this.
i am posting these from my windows7 computer.
i would love to run a memory analysis however, i cant because it crashes to quickly.
Where would i find an error log?

I have the C655 (i3 with intel graphics) running F16 without issue.
I am curious if your ATI (hybrid) graphic card is giving you trouble with F17 (Gnome3)?
If you are able to obtain the Fedora Xfce spin, and I would suggest - F16 (64-bit) Xfce, try the live cd session with your hardware. If it works well with Xfce, then possibly there is a conflict with the higher graphic demands of Gnome3 and your hardware.

Re: Toshiba satalite Crashing problem
After a careful study, I found that dell & toshibha are not supporting Linux Properly.
Dell however is better than Toshiba as it supports some versions of Linux Like Fedora & Ubuntu.
HP, Compaq, IBM, lenova, Fujitsu & Acer Support Linux well

Re: Toshiba satellite Crashing problem
I am planning to buy a Toshiba L740. Does anyone have experience on installing fedora 17 on Toshiba L740. Currently i am using Dell Vostro. Fedora 17 is perfectly functioning on that.
