Hello,
I wanted to find the cause to this problem:
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?p=1597919
But I ended up with a new one!
Problem: downloaded three FC 17 Live CDs: KDE, Desktop and XFCE. ALL distros FAIL to load the 'X' after one process or the other.
Then I downloaded FC 16 Live KDE & XFCE. Both versions work pretty well. It looks like entire FC 17 branch has this 'X' problem w.r.t my PC Hardware.
As for the problem mentioned in the above URL, Network card works very well on this FC 16. This also proves the strange GRUB behavior in FC 17 w.r.t the Network card issue. Here's the addition info:
[liveuser@localhost ~]$ uname -a
Linux localhost.localdomain 3.1.0-7.fc16.i686 #1 SMP Tue Nov 1 21:00:16 UTC 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
[liveuser@localhost ~]$ lspci
........
........
........
01:05.0 Ethernet controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT6105/VT6106S [Rhine-III] (rev 8b)
I don't know when the 'X problem in the 17 branch would be fixed. Perhaps, we need to wait until 18 release
Forum note: It wrongly shows I'm using MacOS!
