Creating LiveCD and LiveUSB problem

Hi all,


Ubuntu 12.04 desktop, 64bit


I have following ISO download on Fedora website
Fedora-17-x86_64-Live-Desktop.iso

Verified sha256sum correct

1)
Create LiveUSB by running
# dd if=/path/to/.iso of=/dev/sdb

It went throught without complaint. But the USB can't boot

2)
Ran;
Brasero Disc Burner
to burn CD, without complaint

But the LiveCD can't boot;

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/mapper/live-rw
.....
dracut Warning: Can/t mount root filesystem
Dropping to debu shell
dracyt:/# [ 239.943866] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 1319528
......

I burned it twice without solution.

Please help. TIA

In fact I need to install Fedora 17 on HD. Where can I find instruction/manual to evoke the ISO direct and to install on HD. I can copy the ISO on the HD

I've never had an issue with a live cd but i found the following:

as for the usb-you could always try unetbootin and before you test it-remember to setup your boot options in your bios(which does seem to be the problem in your case...)

Hi,

I'm absolutely sure having the BIOS setup correctly.

This is my 1st time having problem booting a Live CD. In one occasion I could start the LiveUSB. But after instalation completed I can't boot the new OS.

It hangs on;
GRUB loading, please wait
Error 15

Pressing [ESC] at boot without effect. From there I could start RESCUE mode. I have spent almost half day without result.

Had the same problem with openSuSE and Fedora...try pulling your harddrive out before you install to a flash drive.

Hi,

It looks a little bid funny to me. I have been creating LiveCD and LiveUSB in multiple occasions. Sometimes they worked 100% percent perfect. Anothe time they failed.
