I'd like to point out that this damn thing causes no end of problems for me. I use media quite a bit on Fedora. I have twice had to remove this kernel from my system entirely.

I'll repeat. It does not play audio. It doesn't recognise any audio in the slightly. The play bar moves (quickly) but there's no audio. Nor does video play at all.

If a solution is found, please let me know because I would like to upgrade, but I am not the type to work on dead end systems. I'd sooner go back to Ubuntu.

Meh I plan to wait for a solution first. Maybe things will change when F17 is no longer rawhide >.<

F17 is reasonably stable now, and certainly isn't rawhide. I don't know what the latest kernel is in F16, but you should have the three most recently installed in your boot menu, so you can boot one that works in the mean-time.

If media reproducibly works with one kernel and not another, and no other software or settings are changed, you should file a bug report to Red Hat's Fedora bugzilla, so that the developers know about it (and that it's affecting users). It might be a bit late for F16 though. Your best bet is to give F17 another try.

Hm, I'll have to start looking into F17 then.

That said I've removed the offending kernel entirely. By using the yum remove kernel-version command.
