Re: Core developers are leaving GNOME development
Wow Wayne, makes me wonder about the future with Gnome 3 and Red Hat?
As many responses to the blog mentioned KDE and Xfce as a tried and true DE, I am curious if either will be in Red Hat's future?

Re: Core developers are leaving GNOME development
I was surprised that even Gnome developers are dissatisfied with the (non)direction Gnome is heading in. It seems the users are not alone!

Re: Core developers are leaving GNOME development
Yes, we know that gnome broke your heart by changing into a ultra hip chick that embraced the new and left tradition behind. It's okay. You will find another. Get over her and move on. She has....

Re: Core developers are leaving GNOME development
Ya know ... I was about to post something in response ... but on second thought, I just don't think I can do that any kind of justice. Better to simply let it stand as is and shine in all its ... glory.

Re: Core developers are leaving GNOME development
I like Gnome DE, what would happen in one or two years, if people leave Gnome like this and every one is sad.
I feel the first job is to listen to users and get a feel about what should be the future gnome de...
Then an objective and bench-marks can be set to manage the project well.
Yours

Re: Core developers are leaving GNOME development
Fogive me if I am wrong:
If it gets to the point where people do not develope for gnome do we not have big issues? As I understand, Xfce, Unity and Cinnamon all rely on GNOME in varying but quite heavy ways? Cinnamon and Unity are the obvious ones, but Xfce uses a lot of GNOME libraries?

Things are going to be the same. Nothing is going to happen to Red Hat or its brainchild gnome 3. all FUD by the bloggers. People come in and get out of the project all the time.

Re: Core developers are leaving GNOME development
Let's hope it isn't as bad as it sounds.
Gnome 3 still needs a lot of work and I think it is worth it, but when even the developers do not want it anymore (like a lot of Gnome 2 users) and they can't attract enough devs it might be on a dead end after all...
:'(
Maybe they just need to offer the users (and the devs) more customizability by default in order to keep everybody happy.
