Need a little assistance

Hello just installed Fedora 17 32-bit, i switched from Ubuntu (LM & Lubuntu) and im loving it, I have googled and googled and followed the guides for adding a launcher to the desktop ( Only one i want is firefox ) I have installed the tweak tool and enabled the desktop control but i still get no option to create a launcher when i right click, I think im on gnome 3.5 (Whatever comes default)

Re: Need a little assistance

You can launch Firefox from the menu on the left side of the screen or create a keyboard shortcut and lauch it with crtl+alt+f

Maybe try this shell extension which should also work with gnome 3.5 https://extensions.gnome.org/extensi...panel-docklet/

Re: Need a little assistance

Im aware how to launch it, the reason why I want to make a desktop shortcut is because this is a family laptop (dell studio 1737) and the others who use it freak out if they dont see an internet icon to click... very illiterate with computers..And i need to correct myself i guess im running gnome 3.4.x , I appreciate your input! thanks alot ill look into that!.

Re: Need a little assistance

To create a launcher on the desktop run this in the terminal:
Quote:
gnome-desktop-item-edit --create-new ~/Desktop
This has been discussed quite a bit on this forum and a simple search whould've brought you this same answer.

Re: Need a little assistance

The easiest way I've found to do this is to just copy the file from /usr/share/applications/firefox.desktop to your $HOME/Desktop folder.
