virtuoso-t consumes 80%+ RAM

Running KDE here.

Often, when I log in, the virtuoso-t process consumes more than 80% of RAM on a 4GB machine.

Under System Settings, Desktop Search, Advanced Settings, I have set Memory Usage for 50 MiB.

(a) Why is virtuoso-t consuming so much memory? I thought this setting was supposed to prevent that.

(b) How can I stop this without resorting to kill -9?
