Toshiba Satellite C850

Hi
I have purchased a budget laptop - Toshiba Satellite C850
I installed Windows 7 and installed drivers after downloading them
They are working well.

However a virus attacked and removed some of my applications including Anti-Virus Software and now I am unable to install any windows applications.

My friends told me to use Fedora and download ndiswrapper rpm and install the inf file and go with Fedora.

I tried, but ndiswrapper rpm was not effective, it required some internet connection to completely install the same.

Could you help me with tips how to enable networking in Fedora at Toshiba Satillite C850 Laptops...

I eagerly wait for your suggestions and advise
Yourss

I am running Fedora 16 (64-bit) on a Toshiba Satellite C655, runs smooth

I would offer that if you can download the F16 or F17 liveCD, that is a great way to test your hardware.
With that C850, you will want the 64-bit edition of Fedora.
Boot into the liveCD and test networking and the Desktop Environment, if testing goes well and you like Fedora, then install.

Re: Toshiba Satellite C850

Hi
One Clarification, do you want me to try Fedora 17 Live Boot of 64 Bit version.

I am using 32 Bit Version, I found that it does not recognise the drivers for it.
Even Windows 7 32 Bit did not recognise the ethernet LAN Port.
I downloaded drivers and installed it separately.

You mean to say that if a 64 Bit edition is used, this would not be a problem!
Please clarify

Re: Toshiba Satellite C850

Hi
Even tried downloading and installing 64-Bit Fedora 17.
Nothing worked for me.

Still the LAN & Wireless Drivers are not installed by default.

Ndiswrapper RPM is not helping me also to get Windows 7 Drivers...

Please help me

Are you talking about Wifi networking? My wife has a Toshiba, and tto get it working on hers, I had to get into BIOS and disable the onboard LAN. Only then did it work. Hope this helps.

Re: Toshiba Satellite C850

Dear Yellow-Man
Thanks for your links.

However the links are bit confusing for an average user like me
Could you tell me how can I build a driver when I am not able to find Ndiswrapper RPM or the driver files...

Should I go to Realtek Website and try for a driver file.
How should I identify the driver file

Please suggest me in a simpler way ... Please

Yours

Dear Yellow Man
This link gave some tips to install wireless driver provided Ethernet LAN (wired network is present) iis working well. However in my case both wired & wireless network drivers are not available.

Therefore the only left way for me is to download an RPM or Tar.gz file and install it.
This should not require internet connection for installing it.
Could you suggest me a link for the same

Yours
