so can you backup ext3? is it still the "binary way" or it can store data only?

Have you considered uisng the System Rescue CD it contains utilities like partimage for imaging, parted for partition sizing, NTFS capture, etc. Alternativly there is G4L both provide good support for imaging GNU/Linux, GUI for the command line apprehensive, and they are FREE!

Have you checked out "partimage". It can be found at http://www.partimage.org. Hope this helps, it seems very similar to Norton Ghost.

partimage states that it does not fully support NTFS...
I need the ability to image with compression a dual boot windows xp and linux drive (approximately 17 GB)...
I need the ability to multicast to 60 computers...

I have been successfully using the technique posted here by sfabkk for the last several releases of Fedora (dual booting with Windows XP - now XP with SP3).
Now I cannot get it to work with release 9 of Fedora.
I have tried multiple versions of Symantec Ghost from 7.5 up to Ghost Suite 2.0.2.
Everytime I try to boot into Fedora it fails and when I run the rescue disk it tells me that the system does not contain any partitions.
I have tried with and without SELinux enabled. I have tried with and without disabling the filesystem features (ext3).
FYI - I have 60 identical computers running XP SP3 and Fedora 7 that were just reloaded with Ghost 7.5 in the last two days.

Why are you using such an old version?
The latest version I know of is v12

I believe the newest version is actually v14 (at least Norton Ghost).
1. I can only use what we have licensed here at work (Ghost Suite 2.0.2 - v11.0.2).
2. 7.5 allows me to use a single floppy disk to boot from (up till now worked as well as newer versions).

OK. I've never used Ghost Suite (frankly never heard of it). What's it got that ordinary Ghost doesn't have?
Aren't you able to boot off CDs, or is the hardware quite ancient?

If you look at my last post from 2006 (#37) you'll see that I need the ability to build one compressed disk image and multicast it out to multiple computers all at once over a network.
The Symantec (not Norton) Ghost versions that I use are "Enterprise" editions. The main feature that I use is the multicast capability.
My computers are 3 years old (Gateway Profile 5.5). They use laptop style CD-ROM drives which are a real pain in the rear when you need to do lots of computers at one time.
