Gnome 3: Starting Apps Maximized

Hi
I want to have all apps start in maximized size. Is there a setting to Globally Set this for all apps under Gnome 3? If not how can one make individual apps open maximized?

Re: Gnome 3: Starting Apps Maximized

Some of the applications have a setting to start maximized.

For example, nautilus has one.

Open dconf-editor, and in the left pane, drill down to org.gnome.nautilus.window-state There you will find a check box labelled maximized. check that box, and then nautilus should start maximized from now on. (You may have to restart Gnome shell, if you have nautilus set to handle the desktop, otherwise, restarting the application should be enough)

You may just have to look at the dconf-editor settings for any application you wish to start maximized and see if there is a setting for it.

Hi DBelton
Thank you I will give that a try.

Hi DBelton
I gave that a try and for certain apps, like Nautilus, it works great. Thunderbird however, which is the one I want to set to maximize, is not listed.
Is there a way to have the "last position/size" retained between invocations. I remember having that at login, in a prior Fedora release. Not sure if it is still available under Gnome 3?
