How to fix filesystem error

During each boot the recovery console is appeared.

your root (/) filesystem is in /dev/sda4 but you can't specify /dev/sda4 since it's not a filesystem but a logical volume. You need to specify the logical partition name instead.

try running:

e2fsck /dev/mapper/VolGroup-lv_root
