[SOLVED] No mp3/DVD playback

I reformatted my system earlier so this is a fresh install. Installed everything I wanted and now no mp3/DVD playback. I used RPMFusion to install all codecs needed for playback, but nothing. I do not want to reinstall everything again.

Since you say you have installed the necessary codecs, try this

Code:

rm -rf ~/.gstreamer-0.10

and then trying playing some mp3 file.

If this does not work, please post the output of

Code:

 rpm -qa gstreamer*

I always install lame as well; not sure but that may fix your mp3 woes. Also have you installed libdvdcss? You need this to decode dvds and is available from: dl.atrpms.net/f17-i386/atrpms/stable/ (if you're using x64 bit you'll need to amend the f17-i386 to f17-x86_64) then scroll down for libdvdcss2. This should fix the dvd problem. I find vlc a very good dvd player so you may want to give that a try.

I was under the impression that ffmpeg was not essential for mp3 playback, but this is the only one different between yours' and my gstreamer plugins installation ...

After uninstalling Clementine and installing ffmpeg and reinstalling Clementine and libdvdcss, my codecs now work. Thanx for the help. Solved.
