[SOLVED] [ACPI] Heat issue on Intel i5 processor

Hello,

I have a problem on my new Laptop : Samsung NP530U4B. The processor is an Intel Core i5-2467M. My kernel is 3.4.4-3.fc17.x86_64.
My laptop is overheating and shutdown brutally.

Here is the processor's temperatures on my laptop :

In "/var/log/messages", i have multiple errors :

CPU1: Core temperature above threshold, cpu clock throttled (total events = 1)
CPU1: Package temperature above threshold, cpu clock throttled (total events = 1)
...
mtrr: your CPUs had inconsistent variable MTRR settings
mtrr: probably your BIOS does not setup all CPUs
...

I have update the BIOS. I have tried to load module "acpi-cpufreq", but the command "modprobe" don't return a message and I don't find the module with command "lsmod".
I have tried to add a CPUFreq Driver (http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/...req_setup.html) but i have'nt the folder "cpufreq"

microcode.ko test_nx.ko

For information, my laptop don't have this problem on Windows, but i have the same problem on other Linux distribution (Ubuntu).

Somebody can help me please.

Is your fan working?

Your CPU should automagically scale down when it's idle. You can check with powertop or something like

cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep -i mhz

Which graphics driver did you install?

If you didn't install the ATI proprietary driver you should at least enable power saving for the radeon driver like this: http://wiki.x.org/wiki/RadeonFeature...gement_Options

You might want to disable the radeon chip and use the Intel GPU.

Hello,

I think I have solved my problem. The ATI proprietary driver don't working on Fedora 17, but i have tried this driver on another distribution and i haven't heat issue ! But this laptop have a bad cooling system.
