Fresh Meat!
As you may have already noticed, our small forum staff has increased by two victims er ... members today. Please welcome Gareth Jones and DBelton to the staff as Community Managers.
After long observation these two were chosen due to both their reliable, helpful nature, and their abilities to resist temptation to join in forum hairpulls with the usual squeals of glee. Nor was it accidental, however, that they tend to represent polar opposites on the Gnome 3/Gnome Shell dichotomy of debate.
So if nothing else ... this should be kinda fun to watch. <.. ..>
...
All kidding aside, help them to help you, and give 'em the pat on the back whence deserved and/or warranted.
Also please note that by his own request, Evil_Bert has once again escaped into retirement. He will be missed ... but we're still working on that particular glitch in the radar targeting systems. <.. ..>
So, for tonight,
That is all.

Re: Fresh Meat!
Good grief, I thought those two guys were SMART! Well, congrats on joining a great team. Excellent choices, Dan. And to Evil_Bert, thanks for all your efforts and enjoy the retirement.

Is there a documentation about how one becomes community manager and one becomes administrator?

Re: Fresh Meat!
do you need to apply for the position?
Or you are just chosen when they(admins) think you are ready?

Re: Fresh Meat!
We consult a Windows 3.11 powered cyber-ouja board, filter the results through a tea strainer, pick out the live bits, and microwave the rest. Then we take that to consult with the nasty old lady (the one with two remaining teeth, a chicken bone for an earring, and a sack of garlic tied around her left ... wrist) over on the wrong side of town -- next to the swamp gas pockets -- and get a list of appropriate victims er ... names from her.
Then we chuck that into the recycle bin and begin considering such things as: willingness to help, consistency, good temper, resistance to hairpulls, displayed good judgement, strong people skills, successful treatment regimes for most psychological syndromes and disorders, and a clean arrest record.
In short, if you're helpful, consistent, level headed, knowledgeable, and cool under fire, with a reasonably long history on the forums, you're probably already on the list of those being watched.

Re: Fresh Meat!
Thanks guys. And also thanks to Evil_Bert, whose... sufferings... we'll doubtless soon appreciate.
I still have all my hair, but we'll see how long it lasts now.

Damn, you've foiled my cunning plan...
Congratulations to DBelton!
