F16, and now F17 kernel panic on updated kernels

Just curious if I am the only one that noticed about half the kernels released in F16's first half of its life were borked somehow where a KP was guaranteed, and now the same trend is coming true with F17.

I tried re-installing that kernel, but even with the last one on F17, didn't matter.

BTW, these are all kernels from the Fedora repo.

I tried to boot the DVD F17 64 bit and I got:

16.694030 Kernel Panic - not synching Fatal Exception in interrupt

I have these on 2 Dell Inspiron 620 MT, Intel Core I3-2100 Pro

It boots and installs on my laptop Dell XPS 14z with Intel Core I5 Second Generation

How to proceed to get F17 installed. I am running F15 currently and fears that upgrading with "preupgrade" would have troubles too...

Any help ?
