Great review of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

My Asus Eee-Pad Transformer was upgraded to ICS less than a month ago but I'm already itching to get my grubby paws on this latest version! I'm hoping it will be available for the Asus, but like ICS, I'm sure we over here won't get it straight away Unless I forgo a new pair of Doctor Martens in September and save up for a Nexus 7

Re: Great review of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

It's getting better and better!
One thing I'm sceptical about is Google Now.
It's quite smart and handy but it'll scan through all your personal data and then present you personalized information.
Like when you haven't eaten yet it can present you the location of restaurants, stuff like that.
Little by little it keeps getting more intrusive, like in ICS/4.0 the stock browser will automatically sign you in for Google web services and I haven't yet found a way to turn that off.
Luckily Google Now is still disabled by default but it'll be just a matter of time/another major update that they flip that switch.

But I agree with you, the biggest annoyance is that the manufacturers take way too long to bring out updates.
I just got updated to ICS last week so it will probably take them another half year to prepare the jelly bean, if they will ever.

Isn't ASUS one of the *big* tablet makers? Got to be plenty of community reverse engineering their stuff. I'm sure you can build and install AOSP 4.1 within days of the source being pushed out.
