Re: Rhtyhmbox stops playing music on .ogg & .flac

I've the same problem, using KDE (gstreamer backend) and Bangarang as player under Fedora 17/64 Bit. Unfortunately there is no option to set cross fading so I don't know how to solve this issue. My collection contains a lot af flac files too.

VLC is a good audio player. I use it on different distros without issue. I converted most of my music to Ogg Vorbis, but have a very large mp3 music library too. To me, the ogg music files sound better - compared to mp3's. I also install the Fluendo mp3 codec (for play back).

VLC does not have cross fade, and I do not mix playback of ogg and mp3's. My playlists are folders that I copy songs into. So I just grab a folder of music and hit shuffle. This works well with different portable music players and devices.

Give VLC a try, great equalizer and good replay gain - a solid music player

Sorry, that's not a solution for me.

The problem is not Bangarang but the pulseaudio or flac or whatever. So no need to change the player.

Re: Rhtyhmbox stops playing music on .ogg & .flac

Here is a solution I've read about that worked for me:

It appears the problem lies with the GStreamer backend for the Phonon audio driver. It's not actually a problem with the players. One way to install another backend is to install the VLC player, which comes with its own backend. Then go to your System Settings > Multimedia > Phonon > Backend, and move the VLC backend to the top of the list. (And I think restart the computer.)
After I did that, I no longer had the problem with Amarok.

(Though I now have a different problem, but that's for another thread.)
