Activation of network connection failed
Hi All,
Did a yum update yesterday on my clean F17 dual boot installation. There was a kernel upgrade but nvidia upgrade was not included. Rebooted today and tried to get the new nvidia update but am not getting access to the internet. This is a dual boot machine and Win 7 is working fine. I need some pointers on how to resolve this problem. Thanks in advance.

Re: Activation of network connection failed
Are you trying to connect to wireless network or even wired is not working? What happens when you try to connect to the network manually?

Re: Activation of network connection failed
This machine is hardwired to a router and cable modem all of which work fine on the Win7 side.

Re: Activation of network connection failed
O.K. You might have tried this already - nevertheless,
Code:
ip link set eth0 up
Does this throw any error?

Re: Activation of network connection failed
ip link set eth0 up
yielded: "Cannot find device "eth0"
I do have the full DVD for F17, but without some how to tutorial its not much use to me.

Re: Activation of network connection failed
In some computers, it might em1 instead of eth0. There was a thread about this in the forum sometime back. Try 'em1' instead of eth0 to start with ,.

Re: Activation of network connection failed
Good news! "ip link set em1 up" seemed to do the trick. Thanks again, nonamedotc.
