Core temperature above threshold

Hi,

I have Dell Inspiron N5010 with Fedora 16 installed on it.
Here is what uname -a says

Linux ma-laptop 3.1.9-1.fc16.x86_64 #1 SMP Fri Jan 13 16:37:42 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

From past some days, my cpu cores tempruatre goes above the limits and causes my laptop to shutdown...Following is the message i got when start the laptop after shutdown due to core temprature

Jun 25 12:38:33 ma-laptop kernel: [10444.383370] CPU3: Core temperature above threshold, cpu clock throttled (total events = 1)
Jun 25 12:38:33 ma-laptop kernel: [10444.383374] CPU1: Core temperature above threshold, cpu clock throttled (total events = 1)

Anyone have any idea about this issue? How to solve this issue?

What are the temps ? (sensors, sensors-detect)
Is this an Core i5-430M or something else ? (/proc/cpuinfo)
Have you run powertop ?

Is your fan working?

What exactly are you doing? Your CPU should slow down to about 1600 MHz when it's getting bored.

cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep -i mhz

Try powertop to get more information ;-)

Yep, fan is working

Most of the time i am working in eclipse on Android or C. Also Firefox, shell, gedit and some pdfs are also opened.

cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep -i mhz

hmm...i will try powertop.

This CPU Core Temprature problem is happening from past 2, 3 weeks. before that i everything was fine
