[SOLVED] Installing GNOME extensions

Dear all,

And now the time for a stupid question. I can go here and install my loved extensions: Alternative Menu, Axe Menu, Quit Button, Remove Accessibility. I do that by clicking ON on the left-top corner of each webpage.

But.. when I reboot F17 system, all extensions are not loaded and everything is if it was not installed at all. Well, maybe I should install them in the terminal by using:

yum install me

?

If so, I do not see how they are called and what to put instead of 'me'.

Could you please clarify. Millions of thanks go to you.

Extensions installed from the website should be installed somewhere in you home directory (from memory, probably ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions, but you'll have to look around a bit). Are they properly installed there? What does gnome-tweak-tool show about enabled extensions? There's also a DConf key to check, but again without access to a Linux machine to check I can't remember the name.

Yes, that is correct. And no need to reboot. just "Alt-F2" then "r". That will reload gnome-shell.

Common issues (albeit 'silly' ones) - Make sure you reload the shell - ALT+F2 and 'r'.

As for the quit button extension, use this link. I just checked and it works.

Also, user installed extensions will be in ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions and extensions installed using yum will be in /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions.

When I click the right most quit button, I can see the user image, name, status and notifications ON/OFF.

I would like to remove user image, name and status forever. What is notifications?

I also want to remove Online Accounts which is below.

Is it possible?

This extension - https://extensions.gnome.org/extensi...ove-user-name/ - will remove the entire username menu from your screen. Not just the items you mentioned, but everything including suspend/poweroff. I do not know if how well it works though ..

Also, Notifications refer to the small bubble that appears in the bottom of the page. For example, "printing completed", "new mail", etc.

instead of AxeMenu, there is also Frippery Application Menu which is a bit more similar to Gnome 2. I actually like the default shell in Gnome 3, but I found out about this extension because it was enabled on a certain distribution I recently tried.

extensions which are enabled in Calculate Gnome version by default (I don't really recommend this distro; it's not that good, but its choice of Gnome 3 extensions is interesting, especially for people who like a Gnome 2 similar behaviour):

Hide Dash (removes the left favorite bar, if default shell menu is used)
Panel Workspaces
Remove Clock Weekday
Monitor Status Indicator
Remove User Name
Show Desktop Button
Lock Screen (adds a lock screen button on the top panel)
Quick Launch
Window List (this will display opened applications on the top bar)

and some more, which I don't find to be worth mentioning.
