The Inevitable Crashiness of the Liferea RSS Reader

Anyone using the Liferea RSS reader? Does it crash for you?

Liferea is at version 1.8.5 on F17, but I've used various versions on various distributions and they all, eventually, crash in the same way. As I click the Next Unread Item buttom to move from item to item, the display of an individual item will freeze. Everything else displays correctly. At that point, Liferea gobbles CPU and needs to be killed.

I'm a heavy RSS user. Decent RSS apps are few and far between on Linux, so this is especially irritating.
