Bootloader install failure while installing F17 using live USB

I was installing F17 on my 4yr old Dell Inspiron 1525, Config : Core2Duo T7500, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD space.

I selected the Use All Space option when Anaconda asked me the setup option. Removed 'Use LVM" option from there.

While installing the bootloader, It gave me a error that bootloader can't be installed.

Now, when I boot into the system , I am greeted by a grub rescue> prompt

The output of fdisk /dev/sda -l is as follows:
fdisk /dev/sda -l

Disk /dev/sda: 160.0 GB, 160041885696 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 19457 cylinders, total 312581808 sectors
Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x04d404d4

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 * 2048 1026047 512000 83 Linux
/dev/sda2 1026048 9218047 4096000 82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/sda3 9218048 114075647 52428800 83 Linux

/dev/sda5 114077696 312580095 99251200 83 Linux

Please help, if I am doing something wrong while installing, or if I can recover the bootloader from the grub rescue prompt

Try booting on livecd, open terminal, su, grub2-install /dev/sda... maybe work, or something similar....?

Re: Bootloader install failure while installing F17 using live USB

Is your liveUSB of vfat filesystem or some other? I had similar issues and until I went to Fedora Documentation for installation using liveUSb and saw that it needs to be vfat filsystem. Then installation finished just fine. Check the documentation for clear instructions on using dd tool.
