Fedora 17 hangs at start up

I just installed fedora 17 from the dvd iso. I rebooted and selected fedora. The splash screen loaded and hung up the compter.
I've tried reinstalling fedora 17 and it still hangs at the splash screen.

could you consider using a new media for this instalation? i mean, downloading a different iso

Splash screen hangs.
I used the dvd iso first to upgrade. Then I used the net install iso.

Does pressing escape during boot show any text?

I am having the same issue. It boots until it gets to the fedora logo (the "f") and then it just sits there and doesn't do anything. I upgraded from Fedora 15 to 17. My fedora 15 installation was working fine.

Also: I ran a media check on the installation CD and it said it was OK.

I'd try pressing escape to see if dropping to text-mode splash shows any useful messages. Also try booting a live CD and looking in /var/log/boot.log and /var/log/messages (make sure to look at the installed /var/log/... not the live CDs /var though!)

I pressed ctrl-alt-F2 while the splash screen was loading. The desktop came up just fine. I used yum extender to upgrade the files. Fedora reboot and loads fine. Thanks for the suggestions.
