I'm a relative Linux and Fedora newbie looking for help. (Hopefully I posted this in the right sub forum.)
A few days ago I upgraded from Fedora 16 to Fedora 17 via the DVD using the clean install method. The installation ran perfectly fine. Fedora 17 itself runs beautifully. I'm dual booting with Windows 7 and it also runs perfectly fine.
The problem is when grub2 is loading. On screen it shows:
GRUB loading ...
Welcome to GRUB
error: file `/boot/grub2/locale/en.mo.gz' not found
The error message only shows for a split second before screen goes blank and the monitor displays "Input Not Supported". (The monitor is a 17" Acer v173.) At this point, if I leave it alone and do nothing, Fedora 17 boots (the boot screen does show during boot up), and all goes well from there. If I hit the down arrow key a few times and then hit Enter, it boots to Windows 7. After booting into Fedora 17, I went to directory where this file should reside, and sure enough, it is missing.
As far as I can tell, grub2 is functioning fine even though this file is missing.
Is there any way to install this missing file and fix the error? Is there any other way of resolving this problem?
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance!
