Fedora 17 Errors since upgrade
Sick and tired of each and every application is crashing everytime i access. Was it my fault to install Fedora through preupgrade ? or should i do the new installation using the full featured DVD ?
Following keeps crashing everytime.
1. Google Chrome
2. Empathy
3. Google Chrome Flash Plugins
4. VLC Media player
5. Grub has got corrupt since tried using XEN and uninstalled it right away.
6. Brasero needs to be killed by root process.
Any suggestions ?

Re: Fedora 17 Errors since upgrade
As we learned in Fedora 3-17, NEVER UPGRADE.
Download Fedora 14 and install that. It was the end of rational Fedora development, just before Gnome 3. Don't get me wrong, Gnome 3 has some promise, but it will be Gnome 4 before they fix it, and probably Fedora 22 before its properly integrated and deployed.
If you need something that actually works, try CentOS.

Re: Fedora 17 Errors since upgrade
Thanks wt6g but honestly i can't ditch Fedora for some other OS and plus i am more comfortable with Fedora than any other OS because i tried but i don't know why, F16 was good until i upgraded to F17 through preupgrade. I have downloaded the full dvd shall i give it a try doing the clean install ?

Re: Fedora 17 Errors since upgrade
Have you enabled the testing-repos. This is a issue that some tools will break. I recommended you should doing a clean install and then use Fedora Utils / autoplus for additional software like codecs, google etc.

Re: Fedora 17 Errors since upgrade
Is there anyway to repair the Fedora 17 installed OS using the DVD ? Because otherwise i need to back up everything and do the clean install.

I would back up any important data and then download the install DVD and see if you can "upgrade" with that even though you have already run preupgrade. I used the DVD upgrade before on a F15>F16 preupgrade that went astray.
Currently in the middle of a DVD upgrade on a 32 bit laptop done a 64 bit desktop computer yesterday. Both upgrades resulted in the F17 kernel not booting but did get to a desktop and updated the kernels and then the F17 kernel was available in grub menu. Then went ahead with the rest of the updates and there were a lot of them.

Yeah that's what i have planned to like , backing up the data and try upgrading on the same or do the clean install again.

This is very misleading, to say the least. Preupgrade for the last several years has been generally very reliable. The case of upgrading to Fedora 17 is a rare exception.

Re: Fedora 17 Errors since upgrade
Yes PREUPGRADE worked for me during F14 , 15 & 16 but not this time. Each and every application keeps crashing after sometime. Its really strange.

You didn't describe the steps you took after (or during) preugrade.

Re: Fedora 17 Errors since upgrade
I suppose then that you mean that preupgrade terminated without any issues, you were presented with a login screen, you logged in, and did not attempt to shut down the system even once afterwards. If so, take a look at
