Smile how find files gnome shell (Gnome3)

Hi friends,
excuse my silly question, but how is it possible trying to find the files on gnome3?
If i insert the file name on the gnome3 search field, i obtain only few but very very few elements.

Should I maybe run an application to index files?

I'm using reiserfs on "Home";

many thanks

The search field doesn't search your file-systems, only recent files and bookmarked files etc.

There's a program called "Search for Files" which does what you want.

You can use the "search for files" program or if you know what folder the file is in you can hit ctrl+f in Nautilus and search that way.

What exactly are you looking for? Updatedb already has your file systems indexed (independent of file system types). Try

Code:
locate -i filename
Or to search your home directory for pictures

Code:
find ~ -name '*.jpg'
