Is this the problem you are experiencing?

http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/....cgi?id=121819

Then you should have a look at "Additional Comment #122" from Arjan van de Ven:

fc2 not install

I experiment the same problem.

I downloaded and burned the four CDs, check the MD5SUM IDs and check every CD to confirm that there is no problem whit this medias.

When I trie install FC2 everything goes well until second CD. The installation initialize a copy of files (install the RPMs) and simply reboots with no messages.

I started with rescue mode, but no messges are find in logs on /root.

Then, I install FC1, its working well. Next I proceed with Upgrading method of installation, everything goes well until "Preinstallation fase", then reboots again.

There is some place to find informations about kernel parameter ?

Thank's for any help.

Silvio.

fc2 will not install....now I have succes

After some problems with grub prompt..., I havbe download the 4 FC2 iso images again, beceause the check on the first CD give some problems, and Failled.

After Burning the new downloaded iso images, I boot my system from FC2 CD -1 and everything works fine.

So I think the first downloaded set of FC2 CD's are not oke
I think.
Now I'm running the Fedora Core 2, also the up2date works fine al the 21 updates (at this moment 12/06/2004 ) are updated good.

Smile I have SUCCESS too

Now I have success in installing FC2.

I do a image from my W98 partition, remove all partitions from disk, and procedure new install.

I put a standby partition to my W98 and install FedoraCore2. Its install everything I want and works well.

After installing FC2, put back the image of W98 partition, insert informations about boot in GRUB, reboot the machine and all works well.

I had that same problem. I finally solved it by doing the upgrade in text mode. I am doing this on a Compaq Armada M700 laptop.

I don't think your comment is entirely accurate, there are a couple of workarounds...see comment 201
here.

In addition, the bug itself effecting your motherboard was fixed in kernel 2.6.6-1.427. See here.

The reason you won't see this fixed in the release CD's until the next version is because distros do not release new CD's just because a bug was fixed. Version control would become a nightmare.
