Is there a tool to generate the arpa domain string ....
Convert IP=
192.168.5.42 into
42.5.168.192.in-addr.arpa
or even a more correct masked form like ....
5.168.192.in-addr.arpa
??
'host' produces it among it's output *IF* it gets a DNS resolution, but an error otherwise.
I just want the string - no reverse lookup.

[stevea@hypoxylon vpnc]$ host 192.168.42.2 ##ugh !
Host 2.42.168.192.in-addr.arpa. not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)
[stevea@hypoxylon vpnc]$ host 192.168.42.21
21.42.168.192.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer chumby.localdomain.
[stevea@hypoxylon vpnc]$
