Fedora 16 - Disable Automatic Grub Updates

I am fairly new to Fedora, and Linux in general. There may be an easy solution to this, but I am not quite certain. How can I disable my Fedora machine from automatically updating the grub and kernel. I have a Windows 7 and Fedora boot option, however additional entries get placed after the updating, essentially messing up the entire order of the grub. After the update the old entries still remain in the grub building a huge clutter.

Ex.

Before
----------------------------
Fedora
Windows 7 (Default)
----------------------------

After
----------------------------
Fedora
Fedora*some #* (Default)
Fedora*some #*
Windows 7
----------------------------

I am also blacklisting nouveau, so I can install the CUDA toolkit.

Any ideas on how I can go about solving this problem? Much thanks in advance!

Re: Fedora 16 - Disable Automatic Grub Updates

Fedora keeps the most recent kernels as a precaution, so that if the most recent one doesn't boot, you have something to fall back on. By default, that's three. Once there've been enough kernel updates, the oldest one will be removed, along with its Grub entry every time there's a kernel update.

Re: Fedora 16 - Disable Automatic Grub Updates

I was using F15 last year and it had about 10 items in the boot grub, which gets a bit irritating having so many in there. Was this just a bug with F15, or was that something that was supposed to happen? I'm working on upgrading to F16 in hopes of not having the problem again.

I wouldn't know; I skipped over F15 because it had so many problems. I do know that my grub menu isn't full of old kernels, even though it's updating much more frequently than usual.
