Strange problem with file associations in KDE, FC3

This is a brand new installation of FC3 with all the latest updates (13hrs old!)( just got a new hdd to stick it on )
Anyways, i decided to try out KDE to see what its like and ive found a really weird problem!

Basically all i did was right click on an mp3 and choose open-with then selected xmms.
Sure enough mp3s now open in xmms, BUT all .desktop links like home.desktop now all launch xmms! weird huh!

xmms isnt associated with .desktop see the screenshots, any ideas?

i tried reinstalling shared-mime-types rpm and it had no effect.
