So I downloaded Firefox...

Where is it?

I can start Firefox from the terminal but where is it - how do I put a shortcut to it on my desktop??

Running FC16 - KDE..

Am TOTALLY new to Linux but trying to learn...

If you see firefox in the menu after installation, right click on the Firefox menu and select "Add to Desktop" option.

Also, instead of downloading firefox from mozilla's website, open Konsole and

su -
[root password]

yum install firefox

This should create a menu entry and you can add to desktop as stated above.

Use yum (terminal), "Add/Remove Software" (graphical) or "Yum Extender" (more advanced graphical) to install software. Only download programs directly from their websites if they aren't already available in the Fedora or RPMFusion package repositories. The Fedora packages are preconfigured and should just work, whereas programs downloaded from website may need all sorts of messing around to work, and probably need to be compiled from source code.

Use the command line here to locate firefox:

$ which firefox
/usr/bin/firefox

You can add a button to your panel for firefox.
The executable is /usr/bin/firefox.
