Samba Shares not showing up on either side

I was using Ubuntu for a few years--I accidently burned out my motherboard. I don't like the new look, so I'm back to Fedora 16 with Xfce desktop.

I'm trying to share files with a Windows7 laptop.

When I open Thunar and click on Network I get absolutely nothing.

I followed the instructions in this posting

Do you have opened the samba ports in firewall?

How do i check this?
