Epson V350 scanner not detected by iscan etc

Hi
I had problems with this on FC14, but it was a filed bug.
I've loaded the iscan data and the iscan app from the Ayasi site
and the device is not detected by any of the scanning apps.

lsusb shows the device
iscan-2.26.0-3ltd7.x86_64 is loaded, the later version 2.28 will not install,
and the tarball fails to build with error++ compiler csnnot create executables..

I can't believe a bug filed on FC14 is still open , has anyone got one of these Epson scanner to function with FC16 ???

TIA
Richard

I'm using F16 x86_64 and I have the iscan 2.28.1 version installed.
Code:
BASH:~/-> rpm -q iscan
iscan-2.28.1-3.ltdl7.x86_64
It would be more helpful if you would post the error message(s) you get when trying to install the 2.28 rpm package.

I haven't actually tried using iscan as yet though, the scanner is connected to my wifes Windows computer. I installed iscan shortly after my wife found an Epson Perfection 3200 Photo scanner at a thrift store for $1 (works perfectly). I did test that scanner on my Linux system using xsane though and that might have been in F12 when I did that.

Do you have the most current version of iscan-data installed? I don't know what the latest version of that might be, but at the time I installed the iscan rpm package, it was iscan-data-1.13.0-1.noarch.rpm.

Edit: I just checked their site and iscan-data-1.13.0-1.noarch.rpm is still the current version.

Re: Epson V350 scanner not detected by iscan etc

The latest versions are installed now, the site for epson linux driver download is now

http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/se...h/?OSC=LXEpson

I've done a fresh install on the laptop, with the scanner plugged in

lsusb shows the scanner, but iscan either cant find it or is not being allowed to find it

root@lap#iscan produces a small box with "could send command to printer"
"check the scanners status"

OK

clicking on OK just returns to CLI

Ideas??

Sorry Richard, I don't know why iscan isn't working for you with your Perfection V350 scanner. You could try installing xsane (it's in the Fedora repos) and try using that and see if you have any better luck.

Re: Epson V350 scanner not detected by iscan etc

There something strange with this scanner, I even fired up an old box with winxp on it and that wouldn;t work either.
It was an old box though, type something and watch what you typed appear 20 sec later.
On the main machine I removed everything with iscan mentioned and only reloaded the iscan-date and iscan 2.28 from the
Epson site, it worked.
I've done exactly the same on the laptop and still as before.
Now confused.
Both running upto date FC16, both 64 bit. one works one doesn't.

Not sure where to look for the difference ????

Re: Epson V350 scanner not detected by iscan etc

It appears for some reason the epson iscan packages need to be loaded before any other scanning package,
such as sane and xsane.

Removing all iscan, sane and Xsane package, DO NOT REMOVE libsane,
then install the three packages from

http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/se...search/?OSC=LX

Load iscan-data, then iscan, and then iscan plugin.
Loading the sane and xsane packages afterwards does not stop functionality.

Now running on two machines with FC16
