[SOLVED] Possible regression camera now shown as non-removable

Since a recent update, but not sure exactly which one, my camera now shows as non-removable and hence will not appear in Device Notifier unless I change the settings (which I dont want to do). I dont use the camera regularly but I know that earlier this year (Jan 2012) when attached it appeared in the Notifier which is set to display only removable devices and now it does not.

I have discussed this on the KDE forum and the conclusion they came to was that this change is a regression caused by the distribution. See the thread at http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=101096 for the full discussion and some diagnostic information.

I'd like to know how best to proceed with getting this resolved please?

Can anyone please help with this? I'd like to know if anyone else sees the same effect when attaching a camera? Also if this is a genuine bug can anyone suggest what information I need to progress it as such?

I have just been informed via my thread in the KDE forums that is in fact a KDE issue and the developer has agreed to change it for 4.8.3 and the camera will revert to removable.

Just to confirm that when I updated to KDE 4.8.3 yesterday the camera now comes up as a removable device.
