Xfce 4.10 in Fedora 18?

from what Kevin Fenzi told me they being CWickert an Kevin himself will try an port XFCE4.10 to F17 , if not it will deff be in F18 . dunno if Kevin has compiled xfce4.10 for rawhide yet

It's too late for f17...

pre1 has landed in rawhide now.

I will have a side repo for f17 however, and we might also do one for f16 as it gets closer to a final 4.10 release.

Is any really big new development happening with xfce? Possibly things to make it more of a Gnome 2 replacement (and no, I'm not trying to say that it needs to be like Gnome 2) for the ones that simply detest Gnome 3 shell? Each "improvement" they make to Gnome 3 is pushing me closer to completely removing it and going completely with a different desktop.

Sure, Xfce is developing along all the time... it doesn't have a design goal to 'be more of a gnome2 replacement' however.

Give it a try and see what you think. If there's something you can't do easily I'm sure the Xfce developers would love to hear it and see if they can find a solution.

well, what I meant by becoming a Gnome 2 replacement was more along the lines of functionality, not a direct replacement.

I definitely am going to be trying it out more here really soon, though. I have been using it some the past year since Gnome 3 really screwed things up, but am now really seriously looking to completely change desktops with the Gnome 3.4 release. I pretty much had it narrowed down to either lxde or xfce, and now that I can try the new version of xfce before too long, I will definitely be doing so.
