My laptop have just survived a BIOS update. A technician does warn me that the chip have been touched. But I believe that there is nothing wrong with the hardware physically.

My RTL8102E is now appear and working fine. But everytime I close the system (shutdown, restart, suspend, hibernate), it will dissappear. The only way to bring it back that is known to me is to take out all the RAM modules and the battery, disconnect the power cable, and wait for at least one hour. I have just done that so that is why it is now working. I found some links about this.

The BIOS update is about fixing power management, which fix my problem with resume from suspend, but then get me to advance to this problem. It also makes fedora rename the device from eth0 to p3p1.

So, is there anything else I can try? Do you need anymore info?

This is the bug report for fedora 13, it's closed as wontfix

Using biosdevname=0 to rename p3p1 back to eth0

I am currently taking a break from it. The next thing I will try is pcie_aspm and biosdevname.
