Question CORE 3 &Tyan S2885 dual Opteron 246 installation problem

Hi,

I installed Fedora Core 3, all installation CD's carefully verified. Installation is successfully done, I'm asked to reboot, at reboot I get a black screen and a blinking cursor... machine is frozen.
I have a Core 2 working perfectly on another SATA disk in the same machine.

Another point: I tried the bootable DVD : does not boot (md5sum is OK), DVD version of Core 2 boots perfectly. I had to download the 4 CD for Core 3, got also corrupted images from 2 different servers, finally got working ones.

Does someone have any clue about this reboot problem?

THX to all.

Cheers,

Andre

Config:
Tyan S2885, 2 Opteron 246, 8GB DDR RAM 400 MHz, Matrox G550, 8 removable Sata disks Western Digital 200MB

FIXED

Hi,

I updated the BIOS of Tyan S2885 (I had stamp 8.00.008) to v2.02 (Stamp 8.00.10).
The major updates are:
New features and Fixes :
* Updated AMI Core (v8.00.10)
* Added Opteron CPU CG Stepping support
* Added Memory PCI Address Re-Map support
* Updated SiL3114 Option ROM to v5.0.35
* Added MTRR map options
* Added Chassis Intrusion support
* Added MemCLK limit option

Now I could install from the DVD, wich was not possible before, installation is successful & reboot is perfect and Core 3 is runing fine (till now).

Andre
