Issues trying to install bumblebee

Hi,

I had a look at the Fedora wiki to install the Bumblebee driver for NVidia Optimus cards... and on the command 'make', it gives me this error -
Code:
make -C /lib/modules/3.3.0-0.rc3.git7.2.fc17.x86_64/build M="$(pwd)" modules
make: *** /lib/modules/3.3.0-0.rc3.git7.2.fc17.x86_64/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [default] Error 2
Any ideas on what's going wrong?

Re: Issues trying to install bumblebee

Code:
yum install kernel-devel glib2-devel libbsd-devel libX11-devel help2man
There is a long winded thread about compiling and installing Bumblebee here on the Forum. Search for it.

Re: Issues trying to install bumblebee

I just tried that, and yum tells me
Code:
Setting up Install Process
Package kernel-devel-3.3.0-1.fc17.x86_64 already installed and latest version
Package glib2-devel-2.31.22-1.fc17.x86_64 already installed and latest version
Package libbsd-devel-0.3.0-2.fc17.x86_64 already installed and latest version
Package libX11-devel-1.4.99.1-3.fc17.x86_64 already installed and latest version
Package help2man-1.40.6-1.fc17.noarch already installed and latest version
Nothing to do
I think I just found that thread, I'll go through it and see if it helps, thanks!

Re: Issues trying to install bumblebee

Well my question would be why is "make" looking for the "3.3.0-0.rc3.git7.2.fc17.x86_64" development files if your current running kernel is "kernel-3.3.0-1.fc17.x86_64"?

Re: Issues trying to install bumblebee

Exactly what I was wondering. Is there any way to make 'make' recognize the newer kernel and not the older kernel? Can I uninstall the older one, and would that force 'make' to look for the newer one?

Re: Issues trying to install bumblebee

You could try re-running ./configure and see if that helps.
Uninstalling the "rc3.git7.2" kernel would be another option.

Re: Issues trying to install bumblebee

I didn't really have time over the weekend to uninstall the kernel, but this is what happened when I did uninstall the "3.3.0-0.rc3.git7.2.fc17.x86_64" kernel -

Turns out that was the active one, and now my system isn't booting anymore. I'll attempt to switch the kernel being booted and see if that works. I'll update once I've done that.

Re: Issues trying to install bumblebee

Well that explains why make was looking for the development files for the 3.3.0-0.rc3.git7.2.fc17.x86_64 kernel, since that was your "running" kernel. I had mistaking assumed since you installed kernel-devel-3.3.0-1.fc17.x86_64 that you would be running the kernel-3.3.0-1.fc17.x86_64 kernel. My bad. And yeah, you don't yum erase the kernel you're currently running. You need to be running another kernel other than the one you want to erase.
