Upgrade FC1 --> FC2 on NET (no CD)

Trying to upgrade a laptop that has no CD, from FC1 to FC2. I've tried to read other posts here, but can't seem to find anything that mentions this approach specifically.

Using the FC1 boot disk, does not work.

Tks for any input.

The problem is that the new kernel does not fit on a floppy. If you already have grub and the iso images, check out this howto of how to create an upgrade grub entry. You can then point the installer at the hard drive for the images, or a http, ftp, or nfs server for a network install.

If you have a recent BIOS that supports booting from USB you may be able to put the image on a USB drive.

Ok. That was a good "how-to". Figured it out and did the upgrade process. It did the whole install and then rebooted.

Problem now is that on the reboot it hangs at

"Enabling swap space" and goes no further.

I can't even redo the install now, as it can't find my iso files any longer, and attempting to "re-sintall" over the net just ended in a sudden reboot.

....lost again.
