Re: yum upate problems

See if you have the repository information in /etc/yum.repos.d folder. If not, see what output this command gives,
Code:
rpm -q fedora-release
The output in my case is
Quote:
fedora-release-16-1.noarch
If you do not get this, you can download the above package and install it using rpm. Hope this helps

Re: yum upate problems

You can download those packages you need from this link.

Try this.
Code:
rpm -iV --replacepkgs fedora-release-16-1.noarch.rpm
This might fix it.

oh ! I must also add that the link I have provided is for 64-bit OS.

Re: yum upate problems

What do you see if you issue
PHP Code:
ls /etc/yum/pluginconf.
Here's mine

PHP Code:
[glenn@localhost ~>$ ls /etc/yum/pluginconf.d/
fastestmirror.conf  langpacks.conf  local.conf  presto.conf  refresh-packagekit.conf
What do you see if you issue
PHP Code:
rpm -qa grep yum-plugin
What do you see if you issue
PHP Code:
yum
Have you been editing yum configuration files?

Re: yum upate problems

Thanks for your prompt response. It seems I messed up with some commands (like yum clean all etc)

Now, What I see when I issue the commands you mentioned:

1. ls /etc/yum/pluginconf.d/
I see only presto.conf- means other files are missing (some how)

2. rpm -qa | grep yum-plugin

PackageKit-yum-plugin-0.6.21-2.fc16.i686
anaconda-yum-plugins-1.0-6.fc15.noarch
yum-plugin-fastestmirror-1.1.31-2.fc16.noarch

3. yum
Configuration file /etc/yum/pluginconf.d/blacklist.conf not found
Unable to find configuration file for plugin blacklist
Configuration file /etc/yum/pluginconf.d/fastestmirror.conf not found
Unable to find configuration file for plugin fastestmirror
Configuration file /etc/yum/pluginconf.d/langpacks.conf not found
Unable to find configuration file for plugin langpacks
Configuration file /etc/yum/pluginconf.d/refresh-packagekit.conf not found
Unable to find configuration file for plugin refresh-packagekit
Configuration file /etc/yum/pluginconf.d/tidy-cache.conf not found
Unable to find configuration file for plugin tidy-cache
Configuration file /etc/yum/pluginconf.d/whiteout.conf not found
Unable to find configuration file for plugin whiteout
Loaded plugins: presto
You need to give some command
Usage: yum [options] COMMAND

Kindly help me in somehow getting back missing files;

thank you again.

-Ravi

Re: yum upate problems

Then try this also,
Code:
 rpm --force -ivh http://sulawesi.idrepo.or.id/fedora/updates/16/x86_64/PackageKit-0.6.21-2.fc16.x86_64.rpm

---------- Post added at 11:46 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:42 AM ----------

And for now, you might want to do:
Code:
rpm -e yum-plugin-fastesmirror
Sometimes it can create more problems than it solves.
