Rpmfusion nvidia driver 295.20

I have problems with my FC16 installation on Thinkpad T61.

Now and then the gnome-shell "freezes" or acts very slow for seconds/minutes. I have a feeling, that my Nvidia driver and GPU is responsible for the trouble. I think it primarily happends when I use dual screen (with an additional external display).

I was hoping that the new 295.20 driver would fix the issue. But this version is not available in the rpmfusion repo. Anyone knows when it will be available?

Also, if you have ideas for fixing my issue, then let me know (I know many have Gnome-shell vs. Nvidia problems, but I still havent found a solution on my problem after reading many Google search results).

Best regards,
Kenneth

Use the forum search function.. input "nvidia 295.20". You'll see there has already been a lot of discussion about it and mixed results with it's use. Here is one thread to start your reading with.

Thanks for your answer.

Yep, I think I read most of those threads, but it seems that there is no clear conclusion - some people have success with 295, others haven't.

Are these scattered problems, the reason why the newest driver is not available at rpmfusion?

I didn't find any other solutions to my problem, so (unless other suggestions?) I would like to try the new driver as it claims in the changelog:
"· Fixed a bug that could cause some OpenGL applications (including desktop environments like KDE and GNOME Shell) to hang."
