Re: ATI after-installation problem

All you have to do to install the ATI proprietary driver is

Code:
yum install kmod-catalyst
If you want to get the latest version try

Code:
yum --enablerepo=rpmfusion-nonfree-updates-testing --enablerepo=updates-testing update kmod-catalyst
But now with kernel 3.3 the gnome-shell process is hogging a lot of cpu time. Anybody know how to fix this?

Re: ATI after-installation problem

It's solved in Fedora 17 except resolution problem. I'll make a new thread for it.

Yes but from FC 17, driver for ATI with later kernel are broken.

And people those are using old Chip RV like me ( HD 4650 ) will be blocked to install proprietary driver, no solution until now.

If you install akmod -> no adapter found because they use > 12.4 drivers.

And if you try to compile them you will get "explicit error" during compilation with later kernel.

Only solution , downgrade kernel and then install 12.4 official drivers.
