Menu from USB boot device offers a "Start Fedora 16", not "Install or Upgrade Fedora"
Why is this?
Am I creating my USB installation drive the wrong way?
I want to install it on the hard drive. An additional point, I do have the ISO file on the DVD drive, ready to go too.
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Brent.

If it is a live cd you have on the USB drive you need to start it and then there is an install to hard drive icon on the desktop.

ozdj,
When I click on that icon, nothing happens.
Is there any way to just do an install off the net without using the image file?

Are you using a laptop? Tap to click isn't activated by default in Fedora.
On the top menu of this forum is a FedoraProject menu go to Get Fedora there for all the installation options.
Alternatively have a look at Kororaa in my signature. It is a Fedora remix with all the extras included.

ozdj,
I'm on a regular intel desktop, and ACER, with a monitor plugged in.
I'll try the above option.

ozjd,
The options available under the "Get Fedora" don't include a simple yum install off the Internet command.
I guess I need to know why, when I created the USB boot device, it starts up and then it says "Start Fedora 16", not "Install or Upgrade Fedora".
I don't even have the chance to install it.
I don't know what to do.

Yeah, that seems to be a problem on many of the "Live" CD's. Here is the work-a-around for that:
Once booted into the "Live" session, open a command terminal, then,
Code:
su root
hit ENTER key when prompted for roots password
/usr/bin/liveinst
That should get you going with an install to hdd.

PabloTwo, thanks so much for your response.
That didn't go over so well with my computer at my office.
Here's what happened after running /usr/bin/liveinst :
-------------------------
RuntimeError: Error running dumpe2fs: Input/Output error
localuser root being added to access control list
Traceback (most recent call last):
From "/usr/bin/anaconda", linle 34, in <module>
From optparse import OptionParser
ImportError; cannot import name OptionParser
---------------------------
Any ideas PabloTwo?

In don't know. Did you do all the prerequisite iso file checksum checking to make sure your downloaded iso file was OK before creating the bootable usb drive with it?

PabloTwo,
The ISO disk with USB boot/install works fine in installing on two of my laptops, its just not working on my desktop in my office.
So its probably just a machine problem?
