There are way too many factors involved in these neuro-degenerative diseases to state something like this. As a biophysicist(/chemist) myself, I take these "potential" solutions with a grain, no, bag of salt. There are many such 'cures' to diseases that affect humans that have proven inadequate or have shown to have too many undesirable side effects. More importantly, there are only hypotheses regarding the onset of Alzheimers!

Interesting read nevertheless. I wonder how I missed this paper though! Thanks!

Well said. Alzheimer analogues in mice is a long long way from treating humans.

Despite the stale chess pun, and the loose use of words like 'solution' and 'simple', it was definitely interesting.

I agree that it's by no means a cure, and I don't think the researchers think it is either, based on the last section's quote. It's just the journalistic way: Overexaggerate details to interest readers.

Progress comes in steps, and I think this is a good one.
