Question AdobeReader plugin has one view

Howdy everyone, having a problem with my adobe plugin for firefox. First off, I suppose I should say that I am a relatively new user of Fedora, using Fedora 16. Windows was increasingly annoying and instead of killing an innocent computer, a new OS solved a lot!

The problem, as in the title, I can view a PDF in Firefox only once, and then not again until I restart Firefox. I seem to view a lot, and I dislike needing to save them all and look at them afterwards, so I view them in the browser. So I have:
Code:
[wakko@wakko ~]$ uname -a
Linux wakko 3.2.7-1.fc16.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Feb 21 01:40:47 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Adobe 9.4.7
Adobe Reader 9.4 Firefox plugin
Firefox 10.0.1

The problem was searched, one post found helpful, 254605, but the process list hasn't a reference to AdobeReader. Opening a PDF in Firefox results in the PDF loading up, but after closing it and reopening a PDF, it gives a black screen which turns to white after a few seconds, and that's it. If I keep a PDF tab open, there isn't a problem. Anything I am missing?

Oh yeah, although most likely no import to the problem, my computer is:
Gateway MX6428 (bought 5 yrs ago)
AMD Turion(tm) 64 Mobile Technology ML-37 Processor
1 GB RAM
Gallium 0.4 on ATI RS480 Graphics

Re: AdobeReader plugin has one view

Hello, and welcome to the forum. I can confirm your problem.
Same OS, same version of AdobeReader and Firefox. I just tried this and got the same results as you describe. This is "new" behavior, probably introduced with an update to AdobeReader that occurred within the past few weeks.
Code:
BASH:lib64/-> sudo grep AdobeReader /var/log/yum.log
Jan 09 16:47:57 Installed: AdobeReader_enu-9.4.6-1.i486
Feb 15 21:57:35 Updated: AdobeReader_enu-9.4.7-1.i486
Ah yes, mid February as a matter of fact. I suppose I hadn't noticed this before because at somewhere near the same time as that AdobeReader update, I installed google-chrome and have primarily been using that as my browser. google-chrome doesn't use the Adobe pdf plugin as it has it's own pdf reader. This bad behavior didn't occur in the 9.4.6 version.

I don't have a solution for you. Perhaps you can find and install v 9.4.6 of AdobeReader. Or give google-chorme a tryout.

Yes, it's quite possible it's a FF issue and not an AdobeReader update issue. FF gets new updates at fairly frequent intervals. So trying an older version of FF may also sovle the problem.

I found a source where you can download the previous version of AdobeReader_enu rpm package.
Maybe I'll try this myself.

Thanks for the reply, PabloTwo

I am glad it isn't just be then and hopefully just an update. I've those two updates just as yours, and I think it may have started around that time as well. Thanks.
