Question assault cube thread

hi,
am getting rather desperate to install the incredible assault cube- http://assault.cubers.net/ but due to disability am struggling to take in exactly how to do it,am not a newbie to linux as have been using since it the millenium-just bad with following steps and taking in & holding onto complex information.
it isnt in repositories so theres no chance of a straight forward install.

am using fedora 15; x86_64,can anyone please help go through each step with installing AC,have got the latest downloaded- AssaultCube_v1.1.0.4.tar.bz2,but thats as far as can go with it.
will be forever greatful and thankful if anyone can help get this set up,am addicted to AC,play it on dads xubuntu rig at the weekend as it was in *ubuntu repositories but hate having to leave it behind till the next week.
cheers!

as another side to this thread,is anyone else a fan of this game,or never heard of it before?
got the bro in law hooked on it this weekend, his first comment was a whingeing 'its not as good as COD' , but then he soon zoned out and became a slave to the game.

Re: assault cube thread

Yes, I've got it installed on F16 and it runs just fine. Since you've downloaded the .tar.bz2, simply move it to /home, then right-click on the .tar.bz and 'extract here'. That will create a folder called 1.1.0.4, which contains the game.

Inside the folder, there's 'assaultcube.sh' . Just click on it and it should give you the option to 'run'. That's all there is to it, unless you decide you want to add it to your favorites, etc.

It's a decent game, obviously a variant of sauerbraten_cube and certainly worth a look.
