Need help with keyboard backlight and function keys in LXDE.

Hello. I have an ASUS G74SX gaming notebook and under the Fedora 16 Gnome edition the function keys and keyboard backlight works very well. I have since switched over to the LXDE edition and im having no joy getting them working. What package or kernel module gives functionality to these features? Or is this something exclusive to gnome-shell? Thanks.
