Fedora 16 asks me to boot either form my os or from the recovery os?

When i start my laptop fedora ask me from witch os i would like to boot, the ones name is just simpely fedora and the other one has ( recovery ) written next to it. I just installed my fedora os.
How can i fix that it doestn ask me but just boot from the normal os everytime i start my laptop.

Thankyou

There should be a timer running as well. When the timeout occurs it should boot the specified default.

You don't really want a 0 timeout because if you have a problem with the default kernel then you will have a rather difficult time catching the attention of the boot so that you CAN use a recovery.

If what you mean is that you do not want a "( recovery )" entry in the grub menu, then you can do this to remove it.

Edit the file /etc/default/grub and add the following line:

GRUB_DISABLE_RECOVERY="true"

The run this command, as root:
Code:
grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

My guess is that the op doesn't know about a thing called "GRUB" because Fedora is his first Linux.

Disabling this prompt should work by setting GRUB_TIMEOUT in the mentioned "/etc/default/grub" file to 0. You have to be root to edit this file. Open a terminal, execute "sudo gedit" (opens gedit texteditor with root privilegues).
But, as jpollard mentioned, I wouldn't do this.

Re: Fedora 16 asks me to boot either form my os or from the recovery os?

The first option in your list is the latest kernel after you updated ( think of it as the latest version ) . As jpollard says, there should be a timer running, which you will see at the bottom of the screen, and if you do nothing Fedora will automatically boot to the latest kernel. By default Fedora keeps 3 kernels, this is an insurance against a problem with a new kernel preventing it booting. In that case it is very useful to be able to drop back to the previous, working, kernel.
