first thanks for pushing this threat to Guides&Solutions.
Mate has done a minor release jump to 1.2.0, that's the reason for so many updates.
Maybe packagekit use the user yum cache and not the root yum cache. It can happen that this caches have stored different update informations.

You're right, the close animation do the issue. But mininal animation does't work correctly too.
After unminimized a window it doesn't have a focus and it is unusable. I can closed it only from the panel.
Also, the preview window hangs very often.

On the other side in compiz-0.9.4 the groub&tab plugin doesn't work.
So i used the version where all my used plugins work and that's 0.94.
Maybe new version 0.9.7 is better. I've build first test version of them today but launchpad stash libcompizconfig, so they don't work for the moment.

im using 0.9.5...I think...any way, I only have issues with the close animations.

1.2 packages are since 4 weeks in the repo

I've fixed the black background image in the mdm package, it was a problem with the mate-desktop package.
Now mdm displayed the /usr/share/backgrounds/default.png image as background.
New packages are upload to the repo.

In result of this mate-about has a new modern look.

Guys, are you going to port compiz packages too?
Unfortunately, they were dropped from Fedora 17... for me Gnome2/MATE + compiz formed the perfect desktop tandem - Gnome2/MATE providing fuctionality I need everyday and compiz adding a wow factor and and improving usability.

I've tried gnome-shell and cinnamon on my laptop, but... they are sluggish and buggy... and ugly. cinnamon tries to bring the Gnome2 experience but still needs a lot of work in my humble opinion.

- fusion-icon for mate
Those are packages for better integration of compiz in mate and forks from original fedora packages.
For compiz in mate you don't need all packages. I've upload all compiz packages for lxde and xfce user.
compiz-gconf and compiz-gtk are conflicting with compiz-mateconf and compiz-mate-gtk.

This repo isn't enable as default.
Note, all the extra packages are also in the fc16 repo of course.

Seriously any of you guys who hate Gnome 3 and miss Gnome 2 should give MATE a try. Nowadays it just works like good old Gnome 2 did (and looks better than G3 fallback)

I missed out that fedora 16 have already a unico-theme-engine package if i build mate-themes-extras-1.3.0-3.fc16.noarch.
I've corrected this in an update.

Fc16 user have to be first remove the 'gtk3-engines-unico' package from mate-desktop repo and install mate-themes-extras-1.3.0-4.fc16.noarch again.

Fc17 isn't affected by this issue.

Does the shutdown menu work properly in Fedora 17? I just downloaded the final release "RTM" edition and installed it in virtualbox, ran all the updates and installed mate. When I go to System --> Shutdown I only get hibernate and cancel. Is this normal or likely a virtualbox mistake? I have mate currently installed on Fedora 16 right now.
