2.3.1. Processor and memory requirements for x86 Architectures
Fedora 16 may be installed on most "modern" x86 processors. (There are some "secondary architectures" supported by special interest groups for processors like Power PC, System/390 and ARM).
The minimum processor speed depends on the end use, the method of installation, and the specific hardware. Although some configurations might work on a Pentium 3, most users should consider a Pentium 4 or more modern processor, or the equivalent processor from other manufacturers. Fedora 16 is able to take full advantage of modern, multi-core architectures.

Minimum RAM for text-mode: 768 MiB
Minimum RAM for graphical: 768 MiB
Recommended RAM for graphical: 1152 MiB
Take a look at this. You might be able to use lighter DEs like LXDE or XFCE better. As far as I know, anaconda needs 768 MB.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

That's the amount that is needed for a install.
Upgrading might work differently depending on the method.
Whether it will run ok is questionable.

Have you considered an upgrade from F14 to F15? I have had better success with on version upgrades. Otherwise, a fresh install due to too many changes.

The LXDE is a very light version of Fedora, too.

Hopes this helps.

Re: Upgrade to fedora 16 with only .05 G Memory?

If you do a fresh install then sonoran has the solution: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showpo...47&postcount=4

I tried this on an old computer and it install but all I can say is: excpect lag if you roll with the Gnome interface. And 64 bit is just out of the question go with 32 bit.

Also, taking from my limited experience - I wouldn't go with Gnome on that little ram. Maybe LXDE is better at this, hasn't tried it tho.

Best option is ofc to buy more ram or a new PC. Its shocking how cheap ram is these days, skip eating some hamburgers and you get 2 GB enought to run almost any distro (I think).
